PRELOVED Exhibition.

2022

The Good The Bad gallery hosted the 2022 Preloved Project Exhibition.

Multimedia artist Serena Stevenson designs a story experience using video, photography, visual art, graphic art, interactive installation, workshops, events, online digital and street art. Taking the audience into the never seen before intimate world of op-shopping from the hearts of the Tāmaki community.

Serena Stevenson says “Preloved is designed to be both educational and entertaining. Engaging local communities in op-shop culture, promotes a circular economy and lowers the ever growing waste issue. Throwing away clothes and household items into landfill is not a good option for our environment and that’s why we are promoting how much fun op-shopping can be.”

This project is an ongoing conversation and has scope for far reach around Auckland, to document and curate the stories of the rest of Auckland’s op-shop culture. With the aim to make op-shopping the general norm.

Huge thanks to Habitat For Humanity Panmure, Auckland City Mission Glen Innes, Dove Hospice Mega Store Glen Innes, SPCA Op-Shop Glen Innes, Red Cross Panmure, Salvation Army Family Store Glen Innes, John Sutton from Fresh Concept, Sarah Wiggins from TRC, Dim Pivac, Julie Stevens, Lyn-Marie, and the amazing Tāmaki community.

20 A1 printed images washing the walls of the Te Oro Gallery until May 24th, 2021.

The images salute the volunteers, managers, sorters, and repair people of the op shop culture in Tāmaki. The work is raw and honest as the people and places unfold in bold saturated colour and contrasting black and white.

Featured is Habitat for Humanity Panmure, GI Miss, City Mission, Salvation Army, Nearly New and Dove Hospice shop in Glen Innes.
