Preloved Project by Serena Stevenson

Op shop culture has taken a fashionable and funky turn positioning itself as a new way of living. The Preloved project brings the art of the op shopping experience to life in a multi-media and experiential way.

In partnership with Fresh Concept, multimedia artist Serena Stevenson designs a story experience using video, photography, graphic art, interactive installation, workshops, events, online digital, and street art. Taking the audience into the never seen before intimate world of op-shopping from the hearts of the Tāmaki community.

Serena Stevenson says

“Preloved is designed to be both educational and entertaining.

Engaging local communities in op shop culture promotes a circular economy and lowers the ever-growing waste issue.

Throwing away clothes and household items into landfill is not a good option for our environment and that’s why we are promoting how much fun op-shopping can be”.

Preloved Project 21/22 Tāmaki celebrating the circular community and their stories. This project is an ongoing conversation and has scope for far reach around Auckland, to document and curate the stories of the rest of Auckland’s op-shop culture. With the aim to make Op-shopping the general norm.
